My Top 20 Video Games of All Time

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve all be waiting for. The unveiling of my Top 20 Video Games List. Sorry for the holdup, but this past week has been busy. So here is my list of my Top 20 Video Games of All Time. I hope you enjoy.

20. Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures

Grab your bullwhip and fedora, because Indy is going on his classic adventures, just like in the movies. Though he is not fighting ark ghosts, spiders, and rats like in the movie, now he is fighting hopping Rene Belloq, a series of Nazi planes, and the skeleton of Walter Donovan. Though very different then the films, Greatest Adventures is a real thrill to play when you are looking for some true action.

19. The Super Star Wars Trilogy

Ah yes, the classic Super Nintendo Star Wars games. Though the plot of the games stretches far from the ones of the movies, they have a charm that no other Star Wars games had. Now, you can fight giant Mustafarian monsters, giant Imperial spaceships, and even a lightning shooting Emperor. Though a  Star Wars thing of the past, these game bring joy to my heart, and bring on good old Star Wars fun.

18. Spiderman and X-men: Arcade’s Revenge

One of the very first video games I ever set eyes on, Arcade’s Revenge was one of the earliest Superhero games for the SNES. What makes this game so unique is that it is animated in a different way then most SNES games, in sort of a comic book form. But no matter, you can battle villains like Apocalypse, Juggernaut, Carnage, even he great N’Astirh. Arcade’s Revenge is a great game, ad perhaps a real milestone in my life.

17. X-men: Mutant Apocalypse

Great game. Great great game. I love this game, and if you played it, you would to. Playing as heroes like Wolverine, Cyclops and Beast, and battling villains like Magneto and Omega Red. What more could you ask for. And the graphics, superb! I love this game, and it is also one of the first game I ever layed eyes on. If you want a great story in a video game, play X-men: Mutant Apocalypse.

16. Frogger

Created by Atari in the 1980s, Frogger instantly became a classic. An overview game, Frogger put you in charge of a frog, trying to cross a series of platforms, such as a highway and a pond. Though so primative and simple, Frogger has a charm that will never be matched, and remains one of my favorie games of all time.

15. Tennis For Two

The very first computer game, Tennis For Two was a virtual reality game that let you play tennis. It was also the first game to have two player controls, so you could share the wonder and excitement with a close friend. Thoug over 50 years old, Tennis For Two is still popular today, and makes it’s way into the number 15 spot. ‘

14. Space Invaders

Ah yes, a true classic. Space Invaders is a great gaem, and one of the first games to put you in charge of a spacecraft, shooting down several invading aliens. The game has become so popular that they must have it on about every game system in the 1980s, including the Atari 2600 and Colecovision. There was also a version that you could hook into the tv. It’s a real treat to play and is still popular today.

13. Mega Man

Who could forget this Capcom classic. Whether it’s Mega Man 2, or Mega Man x, Mega Man gave us a good plot and story line, as well as some ground breaking special effects. Now personally, I like Mega Man X, 1 and 2, because they were great adventure games and displayed great quality and sound. But no matter how you put it, the Mega Man games are classic, and can never be forgotten.

12. Super Mario Bros. 2

I LOVE this game. It’s truly a joy to play. Far different from the original Super Mario Bros. 2, which was never fully released, this game let you play as not only Mario and Luigi, but as Princess Peach and Toad. Going to unique places lik a city in the sky and a land similar to Egypt, this gmae was creative and the most fun of the Mario games. And to believe that it was all a dream, because at the end of the game, we see Mario dreaming it all. HA, HA,HA!

11. Dig Dug

Do you hear the good old days calling, the days when video games were so choppy and slang. I do. And Dig Dug is simply one of those games I remember. I mean, how many games do you know put you in charge of a man that sticks a pump up monsters’ behinds and blow they up. Come on! This game is original and unique from any other game I’ve played. I love it, and I also like the sequel, Dig Dug 2, put I’m getting to far ahead of myself.

10. The Legend of Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link

This game is the first Zelda game I’ve ever played. I was very young when I first saw a glimpse of it, but ever since then, I was amazed by the wonder of it, and ever time I think of it, I sends me down memory lane. What makes this game so remarkably different from the first Legend of Zelda is that it is a game viewed on it’s side and lets you battle a hell of a lot more villains, like knights, dragons, and phantoms. Though another 8 bit Nintendo game, Link’s Adventures just had to be part of my top 20 list.

9. Super Mario Bros. 3

Great, great game.  Perhaps the greates Mario game of them all, Super Mario Bros. 3 lets you go to lands that no other Mario game has taken you to before, like flying boats, a land where everything is two times bigger, and even has mini games, like puzzles and match ups. And this is probably the first Mario game I have ever layed eyes upon, having a flashback everytime I see or hear of it. But no matter, Super Mario Bros. 3 is a great add on to my top 20 list.

8. Super Mario Kart

In 1992, Nintendo took some of their familiar faces from their franchise eand made a racing game out of it. Not only was Super Mario Kart one of the first games that actually put you in the perspective of the driver, it was also a milestone in Nintendo history. And to think this would lead to the pitiful mayhem of Mario Kart for Wii. What do you know.

7. Donkey Kong Country

One of the first games to have silicon graphics, Donkey Kong Country took a classic game and turn it into a great adventure game. With the choice of playing Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, this game let you have a hell of a lot of fun, and really brings back a lot of memories. But the real question is…is Kranky Kong the original Donkey Kong from Shigeru Miyamoto’s 1982 game?

6. The Legend of Zelda

Everyone’s favorite adventure is none other then The Legend of Zelda. Playing in an overview perspective, The Legend of Zelda lets you play as Link, the little guy with pointy ears that is sent out to rescue Princess Zelda from the evil forces of the prince of darkness, Gannon. With a bow and arrow, and a sword of wisdom, this game really let you kick butt and show the entire land what you were made of.

5. Tetris

Created in Moscow by Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris is perhaps one of the greatest games ever made. Letting you build out of blocks of different shapes and let you express you quick exuberance and creativity. With a great reputation, Tetris can be found on almost every classic game console, including the king itself, the NES. You can even find it on cellphones.

4. Pac-Man

Whether it’s classic Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, or Junior Pac-Man, Pac-Man definds the word awesome. Created by Namco in 1980, Pac-Man soon after became Namco’s most popular game of all time. And Pac-Man must have a stomach of steal to eat all of them pebbles, and an even bigger stomach to eat the five ghosts when you eat the power pebble. Pac-Man will probably still be popular when my great great great great great great grandchildren are alive.

3. Donkey Kong

After the unsuccessful Radarscope was released, Nintendo had to create a game tha everyone would like. Then clever Shigeru Miyamoto came along and saved the day, with a game based off of King Kong and the old Popeye cartoons. It was also the first game to have Mario, who was then called Jumpman. Though being sued by Universal Pictures, who owned the rights to King Kon, Nintendo won the case, and Donkey Kon still remains one of the greatest games to date.

2. Pong

One of the very first home gaming consoles, Pong surpasses everything. It would soon after grow into a great phenomenon and become an instant classic. And do you know that hooking up Pong to a cellphone charger actually works. Just goes to show you how much yesterday’s technology can work on today’s. Like the Angry Video Game Nerd says, you can find secretive things with Atari, but Pong still remains Atari’s salvation.

And now…the number one video game of all time is…..you probably even know what it is………

1. Super Mario Bros.

Sorry for being so predictable, but this game is brilliant. It surpasses everything a video game should. With characters like Mario and Luigi, this game lets you go out on an amazing mission to rescue Princess Peach, as well as eight Toad creatures. But no matter, Super Mario Bros. will still be popular 1,000 years from now, no matter how you put it. It is entertaining, addicting, and well-constructed. If you want a great game to play that has everything, play Super Mario Bros., the most successful game of all time.

Well that’s it folks, my Top 20 Video Games Of All Time. I hope you enjoyed and take care. I will be back with many more reviews in the future.
